Just out of curiosity what are you majoring in? :)

I am going for a B.S. in Computer Science. Not doing a minor because it isn’t required for me.

What if i am in SAS and then i decide i want to be an engineer? Is it possible to switch later on?

Yes it is possible to switch later on and it’s pretty easy. You just submit a form online and it gets sent to your school of choice. Engineering might have a couple extra course requirements. Ideally you want to do really well on the courses required.  Good Luck!

Is Rutgers considered a prestigious school? I’m feeling hesitant about my choice.

This is a difficult question to answer because prestigious is a subjective term. From my experience with Rutgers I think it is a great school. Unless you are going to an ivy league school, I don’t consider Rutgers to be less “prestigious” then most schools around the country. I don’t know why people in New Jersey talk down about Rutgers, people in other states hold it in higher regards. When it comes down to it you are going to college to get an education, and I think Rutgers does a great job with most of its majors. Plus we also have the benefit of being a world renowned research university, with many famous professors. I would say the biggest problem with Rutgers is that all the great percs of going to Rutgers aren’t advertised, you have to really search around to find the great opportunities.

On another note you also have to compare price to quality of education, especially in the current state of the economy. I think in that regard, we are ahead of most universities around the country.

Don’t hesitate about your choice, I highly doubt you will regret it. I had the same exact fears as you and I was forced into Rutgers by my parents. But I have met some great people, really enjoy my major classes now, and am starting to see the results of a Rutgers education.

When is the last day for replacment test for freshman?

I don’t think a “last” day exists because if you want to go to Rutgers you MUST take the placement test. You are really only hurting yourself by delaying taking the placement tests. You might have scheduling issues for the fall semester if you wait to long. Just go here and register asap.

640:CMA Math 011/111 Precalculus Part I any idea how hard this class is/ how hard it is to get an A?

This class is really not to bad. I think an A is very possible in it. The class moves at slow pace, just do all your homework and really study for exams.

How hard is it for an RBS freshman to start off with Pre-calc his first semester rather than Calc?

I am a bit confused by the wording, but I am guessing you are asking if you will be behind. I think you will be ok, most of the classes you take as a freshman won’t have a math requirement. Just finish off precalc and calc asap and don’t fail either of them lol. Good luck!

Is it too late to get into Rutgers? I want to transfer out of SUNY Geneseo. I have housing in Piscataway so that’s not a problem.

I think you are late to apply for the fall semester. Check out the official dates here. What you can do is apply to transfer for the spring semester.

Should I buy an iPad or some other eReader instead of buying physical textbooks? Would eBooks be cheaper than used textbooks? Thanks!

This all comes down to preference. Personally I like eBooks but I usually end up printing them out because it’s easier to read on paper in my opinion. You also have to consider the cost of buying a eReader. I never buy the physical books because most of the time I will never open up that book again after I am done with the class. Another alternative to look into is renting, it is cheaper and then you have a physical book to use for the semester.
