One of the best things about Rutgers is DC++. It allows you to connect with other students on campus and share files at extremely high speeds. You generally can find any Movie, Music Album, or Program. Every student living on campus should utilize this!
Note: the hub is only accessible from on campus. Because of this, outside entities can’t track what you download and you can reach incredibly fast speeds while downloading (much faster than the best private torrent trackers).
Step 1: Go to http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/ and download DC++. You know the drill. Hit next and install it like any other program.
Step 2: The first time you start the program, the settings menu will pop up. Click on “personal information” on the left and enter in a username in the “nick” field. This is what your will be known as.
Step 3: Go to http://resnet.rutgers.edu and copy the IP address shown there. Back in the settings of DC++, click the “connection settings” item and paste your IP in the box shown in this image.
Step 4: Click the “Sharing” menu item on the left and click the “Add Folder” button. Normally the minimum amount of stuff you have to share is 2GB but for the first couple of weeks, that number is much lower. Share what you can though. The more people share, the better off everyone is.
Step 5: Close your settings window and click on the yellow star icon. This will take you to your “favorite hubs” list. Click the “New” button and enter Ruxan.com:1411 as the address. Close the window and double click on the hub you just added to connect.
Step 6: That’s it. You should be all set up and ready to go. You can click the magnifying glass at the top of the window to search for files to download. If you have any problems or questions, feel free to ask in the chat and I’m sure someone would be glad to help.
For Apple Computers:
If you have a mac, download shakespeer instead. It does exactly the same thing only it has that sleek, overpriced look that you Apple folks love.
Additional Info:
Also, that last image is very sad because everyone is off campus right now. In the past few years there have been up to 1200 people logged in on an average night. With over 80 Terabytes of stuff available to download, so you can imagine anything you’re looking for will be there.
99% of the time, if you are having trouble searching, doing step 3 again will solve all your problems.

Does anyone know how to set up shakespeer on a mac and connect it to the rutgers hub, this guide didn’t help me at all

Why do I keep getting this:
This is usually a temporary error during hostname resolution and means that the local server did not receive a response from an authoritative server.
When I try to connect?

I had DC++ for a while and when I tried to reconnect to this hub it did not let me. It says “The requested address is not valid in its context.”
What are the steps that I can take to fix this problem?
