One of my roommate’s high school friends was on the field hockey team so she asked me and a few other friends to go watch the game with her. I’d never seen a field hockey game before and it was really neat to watch. I enjoyed seeing a totally different sport and it was cool for her to see her friend play. So go see a game you’ve never seen. Discover something new. You may end up really enjoying it, and it’s cool because you get to see the other good sports teams Rutgers has to offer besides football/basketball

Unfortunately, I never made it to any of the games this year because a lot of them are during the week and I had classes until 8:35 every night except Friday. I’m going next year though, and you all should do the same! When my brother went to Rutgers, he said they were just as fun, maybe even more fun than the football games. So make sure you go to these games as well. Only thing that sucks is that you have to actually go to the RAC on Livingston to pick up your tickets before the game, well it sucks if you don’t live on Livingston lol. But really, go to them.

Go to the Football Games

In 4 years of high school, I went to 2 football games, one of which I didn’t even watch. College is TOTALLY different. First of all, Rutgers is a Division 1 school in case you didn’t know, so you’re cheering for a team who’s pretty well known around the country, plays against decent teams, has and can make it to bowl games. Plus, the games are so much fun. You’re in the student section by the scoreboard endzone surrounded by your fellow Scarlet Knights. It’s really exciting, even if you don’t know the first thing about football.

AND BE FORWARNED: don’t buy the season tickets. The only benefit I got from having them was that I got to go to the Rutgers-Army game at Giants Stadium, bus included, but even that the rec centers sponsor it and you pay 5 of 10 bucks and you can go. It’s not hard to claim free tickets. Yeah it’s first come, first serve, but get your tickets when they’re available and you’ll be good to go.

To sum it up: Rutgers is a BIG school spirit/sports school, so make sure you go to the football games. Awesome time.
